What was your favorite line?

My favorite was when the library teacher learns that a student jumped out of a window, she complains, "She has 3 outstanding books that she never returned!" How callous and un-caring is that? The student was in serious condition and never returned to school.

Student: (Preparing for test) If you're standing back there, how do we know who you're watching?

Miss Barrett: (Correcting his grammar) Whom. Whom I am watching.

My favorite was, "Oh look, they're doing the Bugaloo, you know, the Jerk is out."

I was a teacher, and I read the novel and saw the movie before I became one. One line in both that stuck with me is:

"Let it be a challenge to you."

This is repeated a number of times in the novel, which is a must-read. The book is brilliant, and the movie amazingly captured everything that is wonderful about it.

How true it is for teachers~especially when you think you are hammering your head through the blackboard.

EDIT: What a great last line! To a student's "Hi, Teach!", she responds after a moment, "Hi, Pupe!"
