Apparently it was an unfufilled dream of Sergei Eisenstein to make a film version of Ulysses, as Joyce personally suggested he do it.

No point, just thought it was an interesting detail.

It's so true! As another has pointed out on a separate thread, Joyce thought his books could be made into movies. I don't know if that is true of the medium he saw during his time. Nonetheless, his biography states that he held a mild disdain for cinema, but felt it could turn into an art form which could one day be as provocative and challenging as one of his books.
