Was Leopold Bloom the opposite of Odysseus in many ways?

In the end Leopold Bloom just let his wife commit adultery as opposed to Odysseus who slayed his wife's suitors. Also, unlike Odysseus who confronted to cyclops, Bloom just proves the Citizen wrong (which does seem to enrage and humiliate him with his obstinate beliefs and belligerent demeanour) before he walks away so that things do not get out of hand. Having said that, I guess you have to admire Bloom in that he does not have the character flaw of hubris and does not need to be sent on an odyssey. Instead it seems as though his journey goes through the banality of everyday life in Dublin on 16 June 1904 as he accepts it.
