The new commerical for the job listing site The Ladders has a whole bunch of little Guialalas running around. Anybody know anything about this, or the story behind it?
It seems like a totally random monster to pull out of obscurity...I know that Toho's lawyers are hyper-vigilant about Godzilla, but it's totally amazing to me to think that in some boardroom somewhere somebody said "Well if we can't get Godzilla, than what about Guialala?"
Check out "Girara no gyakushû: Tôya-ko Samitto kikiippatsu", the recent remake/sequel/comedy starring Guilala. Chances are the makers of this pretty clever commercial were able to swing a deal to get the costume and rights for a song.
Godzilla has turned up in commercials too, for Dr. Pepper in the '80's and I believe Nike with Charles Barkley in the '90's. But Toho probably charged a pretty penny...or yen...for the rights.

Now I know where this Monster comes from thank you. I remember watching this every Monster week when I was a Kid on WXYZ in Detroit. Would rush home and Plop myself infront of the TV This was always packaged between Godzilla Vs Mothra and Godzilla Vs the Sea Monster or a Random Gamera film. Just didn't remember the name of the film and it was driving me Crazy.
