I miss these days

Though i never lived them watching this movie makes me long for a time I never walked the earth. Maybe if I score some good LSD I can go back in time soon. I'm not a fan of these Bushy Days

reply

Some of the best scens in the Trip are the set up........just him scoring the LSD at that club and asking Bruce Dern all those stupid questions....great, great, movie!

I was born in 66..wish I had been a teenager then...though I would probably have been drafted and sent to Vietnam. I dont like these BUSHy days either. I think we would be better off if we could go back to the sixties and early 70's. This Neoconservative movement is turning our country into a militaristic, fascist state. Good for you Paulie..good to see some of the youth still have some clue as to what the world is about. As for the movie..I love any movie about mind expansion..lol.

The 60s were a great time to be alive and involved in the counterculture. Too bad the media and money *beep* it up. Beatles got it right with "all you need is love." The message is knocked up big time but there sure as hell been nothing in the last 40 years that proved it wrong.

reply

I was young in the 60's. Some one at work asked me if I had seen this movie and I had to say no. Acid was a rush to expierience and I think i'd like to see the movie. I'll have to see if I can find it cheap on line. Mr Naturl--Orange Sunshine--etc. etc. etc.--LOL

ya i was born 45 years too late.

I thought this was a neat movie even as a non-drug user... kinda sheds light on an interesting time in history, even if we're much better off nowadays with the Democrats purged from all levels of Government.. Hehe..

reply

Political fiasco debating! Huzzah!

reply

How quickly your post became irrelevant. Just like this movie... ;-)

reply

I'm not a drug user either, but I love films like this. It was an era that seemed to have unlimited potential and produced some excellent music and film, because or in spite of the drugs. Of course, the drug scene turned very bad after the '60s, and the early '70s saw a lot of casualties like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. So it's easy to glorify what now looks like a "golden era."

reply

I was an 18yo hippie in San Francisco in 67 - and this movie was nothing like reality. Acid wasn't like this, the 'scene' wasn't like this - NOTHING was like this movie!
I miss those days, too - some of it. We have Cheney now, but had the poison atmosphere that brought Nixon to power back then.

reply

People were more passionate that's for sure! It's too bad really b/c back then people really had major balls.

reply

i loved the houses and the feeling in the air. it was an interesting movie but the period details interested me more then the trio sequences.

reply

this is the gayest thread on all imdb

cokoholicar- from the one sentence that you said and just by looking at your name (which could be interpreted as cock-aholic as well) tells me that whatever you say has no value to this conversation at all.

ANYWAYS, i dug the film. I was born in the early 80s and was raised on The Beatles and Floyd and such and I enjoyed the film. I have also tried cid somewhere around 6 or 7 times and you bet I enjoyed it.

I also agree with the previous poster that some of the best scenes are when hes getting it/When hes getting ready to drop it.

The only people that are against marijuanas legalization are people who havent tried it.

reply

I have tripped on acid a few times but I was born in 66 and I still remember some of this culture lasted well into the 70's and still exists today in small groups. I am like you..tired of Bush, tired of materialistic people..hate the right wing..they have destroyed everything.

He who cant speak freely..is NOT FREE! Impeach Bush

reply

I'm not to crazy about the era surrounding the plot of the film, but it's certainly an interesting film. I love the dramatic change that occured between the early and late 60's. Just 5 years before, a film like this would have been unimaginable, along with other '67 movies such as "The Graduate" The post-JFK times changed quickly.

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer

Just fill your basket full of sandwiches and weenies
Then lock the house up, now you're set
And on the beach you'll see the girls in their bikinis
As cute as ever but they never get 'em wet

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
You'll wish that summer could always be here

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer

Don't hafta tell a girl and fella about a drive-in
Or some romantic movie seen
Right from the moment that those lovers start arrivin'
You'll see more kissin' <wolf whistle> in the cars than on the screen

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
You'll wish that summer could always be here

Corman_vs_Cronenbert: Don't bother I lived through those days and going to High School and worrying about having to go for L.B.J.s' and the Democrat's Vietnam War was nothing to look forward to. That's right Democrat's, they controlled the Presidency and overwhelmingly both Houses, Senate and Representative. Pushing through their phony 'Tonkin Gulf Resolution' and their GREAT SOCIETY and its 'War On Poverty' whose progeny fills our Prisons. Whose Grand-Children have made W.D.C. into the murder capital of the country and Chicago into Chi-Raq.

Any Liberals or Progressives who get upset about this. Don't bother to reply, because I do not care what you have to say. Fortunately in my service in the early 1970s' never got further then the West Coast.

reply

You're right, those were days when people had a lot of things to worry about (war, drugs, ...).

But what these movies show us is the bright side : awesome music, hot summers, freedom, nice drugs, ... and I wish I was born earlier to see that.

reply

thylacine80: Understand the 'music & summers'. I do not know about the 'freedom' because did not think before or after was not free. As for the 'nice drugs' never got into them.
