why is a black man teaching white kids offensive?

"The South African Publications Control Board banned this film, claiming that it was "offensive to see a Black male teaching a class of white children."

How long ago did it ban it? Was it during the era of apartheid?

South African apartheid laws.

Racial segregation (and repression) was essential to the Govt and minority white population.

Worse was the implication that a black man could be more intelligent than white people - even children!

The film was made at the height of the South African government's apartheid policies. Around 1970 - 71, South Africa began to experience sporting, cultural and economic boycotts, due to these racially motivated stances. It's not the slightest bit surprising that the government would ban this film, given the star is a black man, and their own school systems were totally segregated.🐭

You apparently don't know the history of Apartheid in South Africa.
