I remember seein this when it came out

I was in 7th grade and was totally engrossed by it. This was a pivotal time in changing attitudes, morals, clothing, etc. I went back to the theater by myself to see it again for a second time.

I still remember whenever the boxing scene happened and later on Sir telling the boys they were not looking at the situation as an adult. I still remember feeling puzzled by that and trying to see it from his point of view. It was hard for me to because I was only about 12 years old then.

This is a movie that will always be one of my favorites.

I was about 12 then too and I had a hard time understanding that scene too at the time.

I, too saw To Sir With Love pretty much when it first came out...the summer prior to entering my Junior year of High School. I enjoyed the film a great deal. It was a movie that depicted its time. I saw it many years later, when I was well into my adulthood, and realized that it was a little bit frayed around the edges, but I still enjoyed it, nonetheless.

In any case, I've never thought of the film 'To Sir With Love" having any political connotations to it.

Moreover, I thought that both Lulu and Sydney Poitier played their roles well, and that they were good actors.
