49 years have passed since but the world hasnt really improved that much

This was the first time that I've seen such a documentary but despite that, I've already met people like them in real life which I wish I could've done something for them somehow, though since they were so lost in their mind there was simply nothing to do. So anyhow, as the documentary showed sometimes the best way to deal with the mentally sick is to let them speak their thoughts but harassing a patient like it happened to Jim was completely out of line.

I also feel that they undermined Vladimir as he knew what he was saying and how he felt yet the doctors there ended up that the best solution was to drug him more and somehow it'd make him better. Admittedly it's true that drugs do help a person relax but when they're in their normal state of mind that just evaporates and they are themselves again. As a person Vladimir seemed confident of himself so the least they could have done for him would've been what he requested. Not even that did they do.

Now, in regards to the topic's title -- What I mean by that is that whilst the world has certainly gotten better it hasn't been by a long shot because there's still a lot of mentally sick patients being treated like this (or worse) and at times like this there isn't much an outsider can do.

P.S. It would have been useful if Wiseman included a note for each patient as to why they were in the asylum rather than just seeing them as crazy people.

RIP all those patients (more than likely a lot killed, raped -- like the young guy and so on but it was very distraught to see these people as vegetables or close).
