Even in Verne's novel they said they couldn't get back.
This film has Lionel Jeffries who was also in "First Men in The Moon"
In that story they could go back & fourth as needed

sharePossibly missing in the edited USA version, there is a scene where this is addressed, there will be a 'rocket' in the nose cone to fire to return, there is also a scene in the capsule where the carpet on the celling is explained as being the floor on the return journey: I know this is all tosh, but so is the entire plot, it's a comedy!
