Pretty good considering when it was made
I actually found this movie on Joost on their really bad film channel, so I thought it was going to be a really bad film; strangely enough, it wasn't! Considering sci-fi features were in their infancy at the beginning of the 60's when this was made, I was actually pretty impressed. The story itself is quite original and has subsequently been remade during the decades to follow - which I see as a form of homage rather than plagirism - in a few forms, one of the most notable being, The Faculty.
It doesn't do a half bad job building suspense, and making you wonder just how it's going to end. The later being something lost in modern day movies because you seem to know the ending about a half hour after it starts. You have to be forgiving though for the many holes in the plot, which kind of standout like a red neon sign in the Amsterdam sex district. However, for film afficiandos that enjoy historical movies of the genre, you'll get a real kick out of. Especially more for the fact that the movie is all about the story because SFX haven't even been invented yet as we know them.
