4EB is just part of 1138's name, I don't know why, only George knows...

Thanks. By the way, I used to live in George Lucas' home town, where he was born in Modesto, California. I even got an address from the local paper where he lived and went to his house whre he grew up. I was disappointed when I found out that his house was not there. The land was sold and businesses were put up. I just wish that that wouldn't have happened. It is hard to believe that orchards of walnuts were grown on the property at one time.

No...I thank you! And wow!
But I'm sorry to hear that too.

It has been stated in documentaries that the EB stands for Earth Born.

This maybe hints that aliens live among them?

It could.

It stands for "Fourth Earth Born". The larger part of the story (which I find very interesting) suggests that Walter Murch and Matthew Robbins (who originally wrote and created the story/script), originally planned to do this as a large scale feature film.

The initial storyline featured a future civilization populated by the zombie-like human's (as seen in Lucas' original theatrical film) and controlled by the OHM. During our initial exploration of this civilization, we encounter 4 workers who have been having visions of another place. A world removed from all of the oppression and strict control of their present situation.

As life goes on, the dreams continue for the four central characters. Finally, led by THX, they elect to make their escape. During their escape, however, they are one by one either captured or killed in a frantic foot race.

In the end, THX, climing up a long stairwell, emerges from a manhole on a bustling city street.

It wasn't until Lucas got the op to teach the Navy class, that the storyline slimmed down and changed. Keep in mind, George was always (and still is) a huge fan of the abstract movies produced by The Canadian Film Board. Films which detail more theme rather than content.

It has also been suggested that the title was Lucas' way of changing the title - using "THX" in place of "4EB" hence, "THX4EB".
