Freedom to choose to be apathetic about life

Visconti film captures the dark, existential mood of Camus' novel, Mastroianni is excellent as the morally dubious Mersault, alienating himself from everyone by his lack of bourgeois sensibilities. He doesn't care about this either. The film suffers from poor English dubbing.
