A hidden gem

For 1967, this is pretty darn impressive. Not so much the stop-motion itself, but the fact that despite a clearly low budget, the idea was well-realized, cleverly written, and quite entertaining. Apparently the makers garnered enough momentum off this little gem to jumpstart successful careers in various aspects of the industry. Worth catching, it's in and out of rotation on TCM.

Couldn't agree more. I first saw this as a kid, relatively soon after its release, on tv if memory serves. It was great then, and still holds up remarkably well. Kudos all around.

I wonder if this short served as the inspiration for those Gulf No-Nox premium gasoline commercials a year-and-a-half later (late 1968 - early 1969)?
