Old man Gig Young and sexy Carol Lynley

Gig was 30 years older than Carol. He should have played her father! Ridiculous casting.

Thought the Michael Douglas-Catherine Zeta-Jones gap was bigger, but no. He was born September 25th, 1944, during World War II and she was born after this movie was made and during the Vietnam War, September 25th, 1969.

Worst of all for Gig--he and Oliver Reed often looked as if they were playing with minimal or no makeup next to fresh-faced Carol.

Maybe not so ridiculous but more a reflection of real life.
She's probably a gold digger looking for a sugar daddy to satisfy her
materialistic needs.
I've seen a few pretty young women married to men way older than themselves.

Should someone get into a romantic relationship with a transgendered necrophile who likes screwing plates of steel into his flesh, nobody would bat an eye. But should a younger woman get into a romantic relationship with an older man or vice-versa - whoa! It's the end of human civilization as we know it!

I never really thought much about that age gap at the time this film was out. i knew of so many young women who married older men. I'm not from the south either if anyone is snickering and thing that sort of nonsense. It isn't even a southern thing anyway. At that time, lots of younger women married older men because of the financial security. The men weren't rich. They were simply comfortable and settled. I'm from the mid west. Many women, ( my own mother) married men who were around 10 to 15 years older.
