FILM MADE IN NORFOLK U.K.

As a child i lived in the village where the old mill was back in the 60s, it was in a small village in Norfolk U.K.
The mill pond and trees are all still there.

I loved the lighthouse - it added to the gothic atmosphere. Does anyone know if it is still standing?

The lighthouse is the abandoned South Foreland Light at Dover, England. It is actually in danger of falling into the sea as the white cliffs of Dover which it sits upon are eroding. A new light was built at a higher elevation about 100 years ago or more.

I and some friends on our motor cycles came accross the making of this film whilst on a summers evening ride. The General Stores was a false front attached to a pub called the Shipwrights Arms at Hollow Shore, Oare, Nr Faversham, Kent. The gravel track in the opening scene is now tarmaced and is the approach road to the pub, many of the river scenes were nearby and filmed looking accross to the Isle of Sheppey, where although they were shot leaving the mainland going to the island, they arrived a little further along the same coast line.
I now know where the watermill is from your infomation, but where is the lighthouse?

As stated above, the lighthouse is the South Foreland light at Dover, U.K. Long abandoned, it may someday fall into the sea as it sits on the eroding white cliffs of Dover. I believe it is currently on private property, but you might be able to see it from the road.

Hello Richard, i hope you are well. I was just browsing the site & came across the location for "The Shuttered Room". Im a huge Oliver Reed fan & ive always been intrigued about the location as some parts didnt look as though they were in the UK. Could you please let me know exactly or the best you can, where in Norfolk the sites are. I often have little excursions out & it would mean a lot to me. Many thanks, Ian

I believe the village is called Hardingham. Mill of course is gone, burned down at the end of the movie.
