Bad Editing?

I want to lead by saying that I do love this movie; great writing, directing, and characterization for the most part. I'm a huge fan of Monte Hellman and love how he ends his films.

Spoiler Ahead:

What stuck out about The Shooting, and I believe it has led to many a misunderstanding, was that there are many strange editing choices that muddle the overall experience. There are many truncated scenes and awkward cuts which create confusion. Specifically, I think the reason so many people have a problem with the ending is all the close-up quick cuts between Will and his just-revealed twin, Coin. I think the reveal and the vantage point between the two are much too fast.

Opinions?

I agree that the ending was much too sudden. Sometimes sudden can work, but not like that.

Yeah the ending sucked. The close ups and freeze frames took me right out of it. The reveal was way too sudden as mentioned above in 2010.
