I love the atmosphere and pacing of this film!


Especially in the beginning as he roams the streets after the nightclub hit. It gives a "real time" sense, like there are no jump cuts making you right there with Jeff Costello. Also, theres no music score in those scenes and you can't forget the genius deep focus photography, from the exterior streets and low lit interiors, I felt Melville brought 1967 to right now, kind of like what Michael Mann did with 1933 in Public Enemies.
