s this true, I thought Dean Martin would have gotten first billing.

This was done quite a bit, particularly in the sixties, it seems.

Example: for the poster of "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance," James Stewart is listed above John Wayne(which is alphabetical, but Wayne was a bigger star by then -- Wayne got paid $750,000 for this movie; Stewart got paid $350,000.) But as the movie opens, John Wayne's name comes first, then Stewart's.

For The Great Race, Jack Lemmon gets first billing in the movie credits, but I think Tony Curtis got top billing on posters -- which was lucky for Curtis, he was starting to fade and Lemmon was on full ascent by then.
