Some of Joan Delaney cut from DVD

In addition to the deleted scene discussed elsewhere on this message board, it should be noted that in the DVD release, some of the scenes showing Joan Delaney were deleted. It is only a couple of seconds here and there, that I noticed at least, but I definitely did notice it. It only takes a second or two to make a sequence seem chopped up. If you are curious, it is when she climbs the spiral staircase and then shortly after that. I can't quite figure out why they would do this, because from what I recall, it wasn't especially revealing. I don't understand why they would do this, and it aggravates me that on the DVD, I am not shown the same movie that was shown on broadcast TV. It makes no sense.

I wish I knew what you claim is missing - I really don't know what it might be.

I'd been catching this movie on tv since it first played on big network movie night, just to see if the missing scenes show up. When it ran on TBS in the 80s it went through a number of edits, including cutting away when Nan suggests living together. They'd also cut Godfrey Cambridge's monologue, and some [how can you even tell it's] nudity...thank goodness they had no problem with violent deaths. Seeing what's cut over time is an interesting Rorschach test of society. Or word association test, I don't know, I'm no psychiatrist.
