the award for best native song and dance goes to...

Silly little movie. Somewhat entertaining and there are a few unintentional laughs to be found.

I thought it was idiotic of David to say he doesn't like to abuse the animals of the jungle, but yet they were hunting a leopard. Somehow I don't think they were intending on making leopard stew.

It almost seemed like a musical at times, by golly! However, the award for best native song and dance number still goes to "King Kong vs. Godzilla."

So, is this a Joe Bob Briggs Drive-In Movie Pick or what?

reply

The dance numbers were partly annoying and partly surprisingly catchy. They did rather look like time-fillers.

Yeah, I couldn't get my head round the animal abuse line, either.

I'd watch it again. I'd watch any Hammer again, no matter how bad.

Best native song and dance will ALWAYS belong to Mothra.
I love the Peanuts!

reply

Ohhh, how could I forget The Peanuts?

I vote for the native song and dance number in the second "King Kong" remake. Some of the dancers were from Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre after all!

See the ''dance'' in ''Fire Maidens From Outer Space'' done to ''Stranger In Paradise''. Tops ''em all!.

David made his living as an African hunting guide, so he wasn't opposed to killing the animals as trophies or what have you. He was opposed to wounding an animal and condemning it to a slow, painful death, which would be abuse.
