a prequel to The Limey

I wish this film was available for viewing in America. Just the fact it's a prequel to The Limey would bring many sales alone.

If you live in LA and have a region-free player, you can rent Poor Cow on DVD from Cinefile (www.cinefilevideo.com) in West LA, next to the NuArt theater.

I just saw it. Poor Cow doesn't have much to do with The Limey but still it's a mistaken error.

The footage used in the flashback scenes of The Limey are from Poor Cow, and
Stamp's character in the Limey is supposedly similar (as far as i can tell from the plot synopsis) to his character in Poor Cow but I am not sure if the character
names are the same and the reason he is sent to jail is the same.

Can anyone who's seen both answer this question for us? Is Stamp's character in Poor Cow the same character in The Limey?

reply

I have not seen poor cow.

The characters name in the Limey was Wilson, is that the same name from poor cow?

Sodenberg says it is the same name, but he's been wrong before.

The Flashback scenes in the Limey are taken from Poor Cow.

If you look at the cast list on here, it says Stamp's character's name is "Dave Fuller."

But then again criminals often have aliases dont they ?

Hey may have been travelling on a fake passport, and kept the fake the name to maintain appearances. He was travelling to America to kill someone dont forget.

Stamp's character Dave in Poor Cow is definitely not the same character as Wilson in The Limey.
In Poor Cow Dave and Joy (Carol White's character) have a love affair, but no children. Joy has a son by her husband.
In The Limey Wilson has a daughter, Jenny. In the flashback sequences Carol is supposed to be Jenny's mother.
The flashbacks are very well used, and no doubt the idea for The Limey came after a viewing of Poor Cow.
However, the two films are not directly connected. Indeed, the flashbacks are slightly altered to fit in with the plot of The Limey.

You are correct but look at it this way. Joy was divorcing her husband and she promised Dave that she would wait for him. Maybe once he was out of the joint they reunited and had a daughter Jenny.

Since Jenny's death is considerably the most important event for Wilson he decidedly makes no reference to his stepson.

Jenny is portrayed by an actress who was filmed in a 70's style filming technique to imply a flashback.

As for the name. My guess it is what a previous post said in that the character being a career criminal used an alias. Or maybe his full name is David Wilson Fuller?

Never know. Terence Stamp is awesome either way.

I remember Carol's character telling Dave she wanted a baby with him, and would love a daughter, so Victor4782 could be right.

But the daughter's name was Jennifer Wilson, not Jennifer Fuller. (Jenny was her nickname).

But the daughter's name was Jennifer Wilson, not Jennifer Fuller. (Jenny was her nickname). Also, the co-author of the script for The Limey said that the name he had in mind for Stamp's character was Henry Wilson.

An interesting (although irrelevant) coincidence: Willson's main adversary's name was Terry. That's one of Terence Stamp (and the majority of Terence's out there) nicknames.

In his autobiography, "Double Exposure", Terence Stamp makes no mention of Poor Coww at all among the films he made in the sixties. I wonder why? All his other sixties film are described even briefly but not PC...
