Actor Ric Natoli dubbed??

In the movie "The Perils of Pauline", why was young actor Ric Natoli's voice dubbed-over by voice actress June Foray? Ric plays spoiled Prince Benji in the movie, but when he speaks his voice is the same voice as cartoon character Rocky the flying squirrel (also voiced by Foray). Anybody know why he had to be dubbed over?

My guess is his own voice was not "cartoony" enough for this comedy film.
Supposibly a couple other people's voices were dubbed over too.
I noticed the Rocky the Squirrel voice right away.
The amazing Pam Austin and that wonderful hair of hers made up for any boo boos on the production's part....

I'm sure Pamela Austin's voice was also dubbed by someone else as well.

I saw a commercial she did for Dodge in 1967. She had a genuine southern accent. But in The Perils of Pauline, her voice didn't sound anything like a southern accent at all.

Pamela Austin is not dubbed. Her voice can be heard in scores of other movies and tv shows she was in in the 60s and early 70s.

I'm not old enough to recall her Dodge commercial but I don't see how she could have had a "genuine southern accent" given she is from Nebraska. Either she used a fake one in the commercial or it was another Dodge commercial with another actress.

To the OP, I think June Foray's blatantly using her Rocky the Squirrel voice only underlines the fact that this was a movie aimed at kids albeit with some adult appeal like most movies of this nature from the 60s (THE GREAT RACE, THOSE DARING YOUNG MEN IN THEIR JAUNTY JALOPIES, etc.) I mean who but a kid could believe 33-year-old Pat Boone still living in an orphanage? Doris Packer should have sent him packing ages before she did!

Here is Pamela Austin doing some Dodge commercials.

Thanks for the great commercial links. I remember these first hand, lol.

reply

yeah... Pamela's voice isn't dubbed in perils of Pauline.

This movie is a live-action cartoon when I first saw it.
It felt like the 60's BATMAN or CASINO ROYALE.
I guess Walter Lantz was the creative consultant who got uncredited.
