What happened at the end? ***SPOILERS***

I had to tape the movie and watch it later. Just after the doctor puts both his friend and his wife in the car after drugging them, my recording cut off! I assume he either pushed the car off a cliff or something but I really don't know.

Can someone please let me know what happened? I just won't sleep tonight unless I know.
