Why isn't anyone saying that this is a ripoff/spoof of Bond 007?

I can only assume that this was all done tongue-in-cheek (but it's not funny).

It had to have been an attempt to make another franchise. Everyone in it was in Bond movies... Moneypenny, "M", Largo...Anyone have more accurate info on this such as produced by Broccoli/Saltzman?

Some people think too hard about a film while others don't think hard enough. Think about it!

Well, to be honest, it's probably because it's so glaringly obvious that it's a spoof of Bond that it goes without saying.

It could be kind of hard to tell for some people. Is it so bad it is funny? Or was it intentionally goofy? I find it hard to believe that a film with such obviously corny references to Flemming and Bond, coupled with that bizarre desert capture of the military convoy could ever be serious. THIS WAS A COMEDY. As such, man what a strange and fun ride it was. A great spoof of the spy movies at the time.
