They Didn't Check After The Second Murder?

I don't understand a couple of things ... or maybe they are just quirks on my part. But when the mummy was summon to kill Harry, why didn't anyone report the doors being smash and the tracks on the floor? I mean there was a caretaker and a sweeper. Why wasn't it reported to the police?

Then there was the part were police inspector said after the second murder there was no reason to think there would be a third. Two murders in such a short period of time with both going into the tomb and no reason for the chief inspector to think there would be another murder? After the second murder the police should have guess there was a connection. Especially Clair and Paul.

What was up with the wife? Why was she so put off by her husband? I could see he was self centered but she had been married to him for 26 years ... could it be she was finally fed up with him? She wasn't too mournful when he was killed. In fact it wasn't too much that bother her.

Another thing that bother me was Sir Basil getting sick at the ceremony. He looked to be fine when they where digging out the tomb. If he need medical attention from the snake bite why didn't he get it when he got back to the city?
How did Sir Basil escape? No security at the asylum? I would think they would have it. Why didn't Sir Basil go to Harry? He was right under his window. That way with Sir Basil in Harry's room the mummy could have save a trip :D

Also shouldn't there have been blood on the mummy's hands after the first murder?

Well those are some of the questions I thought about when watching this movie. If I see anything else that leaves me wondering I will post that too. Thanks for reading my post. :)

The scene where the police inspector says after 2 murders he sees no reason to expect there will be a 3rd, right then, I just about screamed in my seat. IS HE KIDDING??? It was nice that later, he apologized and told the remaining potential victims they could leave, but 2 more murders had occurred by then, and the people he said it to had no plans to leave. Sheesh.

I'm also wondering how hard it could have been to find one wild-eyed bearded raving fanatic like Hasmid. Since he actually did threaten the lives of everyne who wound up later getting killed, is it possible the police never thought to bring him in for questioning?

There did seem to be a bit of a falling out near the end... the fortune-teller actually told the interpreter how to end the curse, which, if she was sincere about it, must have really angered Hasmid. Later, he screwed up by TELLING the interpreter that she needed the shroud to end the curse. And to think-- she might never have figured this out if he hadn't TOLD her!

And what kind of "guardian of the tomb" is he anyway, to not show up and warn people off until AFTER they've actually found the tomb? Tsk.

Man I'm telling ya ... scream is right ... with the second guy being killed who also went into the tomb, would be some kind of red flag. You make an excellent point ... why didn't they tell the police about Hasmid? Even if the police didn't believe them they should have said something after the second death.

I was wondering about that too why did Hasmid give away the fact that they needed the shroud? And man ... to get shot in the back twice like that. Oh man. Why not say drop the shroud or I'll shoot then it he doesn't listen shoot?

Maybe the "guardian" doesn't do anything until they know it is going to be discovered. Perhaps by warning them ahead of time would give them indication they are on the right track to finding it?

What did you make of the wife? She didn't seem too concerned about anything. It was clear she didn't like her husband ...

The wife struck me as one of those who's been married so long, and all the love and romance has completely gone out of the relationship. Yet, perhaps due to her religious upbringing, or just out of habit, or perhaps financial comfort, she can't imagine ever leaving him. Even if he's not giving her much reason to stick around. I mean, how about that point in the story where he decides to leave BY HIMSELF. I suppose he figured, well, she hadn't gone into the tomb, so she wasn't in any danger (and might be in more danger if she came with him).

In spite of all this, it still manages to be a fun movie... DUMB, but fun.

I agree it is a fun movie ... and it's fun to talk about the goofs and flaws in the storyline. I watched another hammer film about Dracula ... there are a lot of things I'd like to point out as "what's up with that" lol. So much fun :)

AS far as Prescott leaving by himself ... I think even if she had gone into the tomb he would have left her. He was leaving his son behind and he did go in. I think he was afraid and was worried about his skin.

I think you may be right about the wife.
