what happened in the store?

I don't understand the scene where that lady called Mouchette into her store and gave her coffee...then calls her a little slut. What was that all about?
I got the impression she was trying to come on to Mouchette, which is why Mouchette got angry and threw the bread away?

It's a criticism, as in other places in the movie, of the 'morality' of Christian people who try/pretend to be generous but can't help judging other people.

I think it's pretty clear that the only reason for her generosity to begin with was for an opportunity to get sordid details about Mouchette's mother dying. Everyone wants to console her only to pump her for information. When she sees the marks Mouchette covers, this woman thinks she has found it. It's a hint of scandal she was hoping for in the first place, or so it seemed to me (and I think, to Mouchette).

Also, apparently at that time in rural France simply having your top button undone (as Mouchette does) would have been regarded as a sign of wantonness.

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.
