Stupid Plot

I don't see what everyone is raving about this movie. It is totally implausible. How could a woman with no investigative powers find out what the police were unable to discover? The worst part was killing the guy by suffocating him in a closet. All he had to do was to kick the hinges off - closet doors aren't exactly made with great security in mind. Failing that, I doubt if a closet could be made airtight.

The story itself was great, but there were so many moments where you had to suspend your disbelief. And the closet death was just weird. That whole scene, in fact, was weird.

I had those same two complaints until I read the synopsis of the novel which it's based on, and both of those things are cleared up. In the book:

1. They weren't in an apartment, they were driving by in a car, drunk, when her husband was shot, and she gets the license plate number and tracks them down that way.

2. She uses putty to seal him in the closet, not duct tape. (Not positive that would make it airtight either, I have to imagine there would be cracks in the wood, but it's better than duct tape! Ha.)
