From a HUGE Beatles fan...

The songs are all-time classics and the Walrus portion is great. But, as a film, it's an amateurish mess. Every moment without music is unwatchable.

I disagree thoroughly. The "incomprehensible British drill sergeant" segment I found to be screamingly funny. I also really enjoyed the "madcap race to nowhere" sequence, and the "too much spaghetti" sequence, and most of the stuff involving Buster Bloodvessel, and just about anything featuring either some of the other geezers, or any of the little kids.

The worst sequences, in my view, were the ones with the Beatles dressed up as wizards. It was a vain attempt to add a bit of coherency to a storyline that definitely didn't need it, or even want it.

I agree--I can see why this didn't work for most, this can't possibly be understood by most fans, any more than "Magic Christian" (or even "Yellow Submarine"), or maybe even "Head" because it isn't literal, it's a 'trip.' The simple truth is you really ought to be on something when you watch it, or else just have a really good imagination/sense of humor. I watched it for the first time after a few pints last night and thought it was wonderful, ha ha.

Nilbog! Its goblin spelled backwards! This is their kingdom!

it is a bit of a mess, but there are some good bits. i think the drill sergeant is hilarious.

I'm also a huge Beatles fan and I agree.

Best bits were the music videos.
All the rest was nothing but filler and a mess.

What did they say?
"OK John. Now you are going to have this little girl in your lap and try and entertain her with a game with your hand and a red balloon. And little girl, just keep on saying "No" to whatever Johan says. Brilliant, right? OK. Action!"

Let me know if I'm on your ignore list.
Thanx!
