Film Favorites of '67 (Talk to the animals, sing with the monsters)

Another post meant to coordinate with Oscar night. If memory serves, MAD MONSTER PARTY did not win Best Picture for '67 (probably would've been about 500th in line) but it's my most treasured film from that year, especially since it's now available on CD & DVD.

It's MMP's time to shine!

Film Favorites of '67:

Film: MAD MONSTER PARTY

Other Favorites of '67:
BONNIE & CLYDE
HALF A SIXPENCE
DR. DOLITTLE

THE JUNGLE BOOK

Musical Numbers (no clear winner, but here's a field of nominees)
“My Friend the Doctor,” DR. DOLITTLE
“Money to Burn,” HALF A SIXPENCE
“It’s the Little Things,” GOOD TIMES
* “Fortuosity,” THE HAPPIEST MILLIONAIRE
“A Secretary is Not a Toy,” HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS

*Musical Moment:
Tommy Steele hi-kicks alongside a tall bicycle, then spins & catches a
bounced ball in his bowler hat.

Verse:
Now when you pick a pawpaw
or a prickly pear
and you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don’t pick the
prickly pear by the paw when you pick a
pear best to use the claw
But you won’t need to need to use the claw when
you pick a pair of the big pawpaw.
Have I given you a clue?
The Bare Necessities of life will come to you...

Animated Titles: THE ADVENTURES OF BULLWHIP GRIFFIN

Ensemble Cast: BULLWHIP GRIFFIN
(A trio of likeable stars, plus some major character players in
minor roles. BG's my favorite comic western, BLAZING SADDLES can go to blazes.)

Special Award to '67:
My Favorite Year for Movie Music ('67 hadn't anything as individually wonderful as MARY POPPINS or A HARD DAY'S NIGHT, but provided a veritable smorgasbord of memorable film songs. The Top 10 could've easily been expanded to a Top 40.)
