Airing on TCM Saturday morning June 29th at 9am

"Mad Monster Party" will be airing on TCM on SATURDAY JUNE 29th at 09:00 AM (ET).
Very nice to have a showing for those who have not seen this in years. I hope TCM airs it again around Halloween. I own the DVD but it is still nice to see it being shown on tv.

Thanks for the heads-up, Mrs. C.!

I'm watching it now for the first time. Got off to a slow start but now it's snared my interest. I can see the roots of so many later movies, especially Tim Burton joints. Who does the Jimmy Stewart and Peter Lorre voices so well?

I watched it again for the 3rd time (last two times being in the past few years) and it just hit me: "Francesca" sounds a little (at times) like Kathleen Turner voicing Jessica Rabbit. Not all the time, but some of the breathy, lower tones.

Also "Felix" is definatly a take off of Jimmy Stewart (tho I'm not sure what the connection is-why that voice?), but there was a hint of Owen Wilson in there, too!

I know it's not possible, just thought it was interesting.

Anyone else catch it?

"Also "Felix" is [definitely] a take off of Jimmy Stewart ...."

You're right!

Check out the interview with Allen Swift @ time 9:30.

I also thought "Francesca" (Gale Garnett) did sound a lot like actress Kathleen Turner. And i don't know what audience this film was marketed to, but with the big boobs Francesca was given, I suspect this film is a lot like "Family Guy", an adult animation film.

And the scene where the Monster's Mate (Phyllis Diller) was dancing with the Mummy character when the skeleton band was playing (40 mins. into movie).... was pure camp!!

Oh man what a movie!!

:D

Watching it now. Brings back a lot of memories.

The Stewart voice was clearly (to me) homage to the upung pharmacy assistant George Bailey on Wonderful Life.

THANK YOU!!!! I could not figure out why of all voices to use Jimmy Stewart. Altho I have to think that at the time "IAWL" didn't have the same magnitude that it has now. Still it's the most logical right now...
