How would you classify soundtrack? Others similar?

I always thought this movie had the most unique soundtrack. Thirty-five years after seeing it on television, I bought the CD and have played it to death. What kind of category of music would you even call this? Not just the title track, but all of it, like Waltz For A Witch and the jungle "pursuit" music. The tracks are very different but there is a common thread to it. I've never heard of anything coming close. It seems to be a mix of jazz, a caribbean sound, a baroque sound, and a kind of burlesque all combined to make this wonderful "cake".

After its showing in the theaters, it aired on broadcast T.V. from the late 1960s through the early 1970s, at least once a year around Halloween-time on a local station in the New York metro area.
I believe it was edited for running time to fit in to an hour and a half with commercials. The scenes they cut out were the boat trip to the island and the scene in the kitchen between Yetch and Chef Machiavelli.
I believe it aired on WNEW Channel 5 during those years, but I couldn't swear to it. I wish I could get some old TV Guides from the NYC region so I could look up the local listings. I have such fond memories of that time I would love to be able to nail down which year I saw such-and-such and match it to what grade I was in, etc.

Definitely has the feel of the James Bond Scores by John Barry-particularly 'Dr. No', which came out a few years earlier...some of the plot is similar as well...check out the 'Dr. No' soundtrack-you won't be disappointed-

to me it sounds like a blend of J.Bond & The Pink Panther

The song during the opening credits could definitely pass for a James Bond theme. A great song to add to a Halloween play list.
