Good Movie

That was one of my favorite Western movies when I was a kid.

I can remember myself, that I felt very sad at the end.
I didnĀ“t understand, why the young gunslinger acted so hostile. During the whole film, I wished they would become friends and the young man could be his deputy.

I liked it to. Deserves higher rating than I see here.

Classic situation, seen in many Westerns. The young gunfighter challenged the sheriff to the gun duel so the young one would be recognized as the fastest gunfighter in the West, something like that.

I didn't understand it, either, and also hoped they would become friends. I suppose it comes down to what chipe said about McGuire needing to be recognized as the fastest gunfighter in the West. Maybe I missed something, but it seemed like there needed to more of a backstory for McGuire and why he had a "kill or be killed" mentality.

Cheese fries...next time.

I am with you..Especially considering Dan Blaine's inferior deputy..That town would have been the safest in the west..and I am 1 who liked the chemistry between Angie Dickinson and Glenn Ford..I could see him retiring in a couple of years and becoming "useful" in the saloon business as her husband/partner
