You realize this makes Godzilla female?

Because there's only one Godzilla, and males can't lay eggs...

reply

Well since there's only one Godzilla...

reply

*wink*

reply

Good catch. You uncovered a plot hole

reply

Not a plot hole at all! Why shouldn't a female monster want a literal night on the town now and then! [*stomp* *stomp*]

reply

Godzilla is a male. The actor who plays Godzilla in this film is Seiji Onaka.

reply

No, the actor inside the Godzilla costume is male.

Godzilla the character can't be male, males can't reproduce without a female, but some reptile species can breed parthenogenically.

reply

HOW DARE YOU! Don't you know? It's 2021. Godzilla was obviously a male before transitioning. That's where it retains most of its badassery. But now that it's female it still has some of its male parts here or there, a hermaphrodite if you will. Soon it will become gender fluid/non-binary.

reply

Transitioning doesn't change reproductive capacity! Nope, the only way a Son of Godzilla can exist, is if Godzilla is biologically female.

reply

Or it's possible Godzilla reproduces asexually.

reply

Nope, its just a plot hole. By the way in the next film, Destroy all Monsters, that one takes place in the year 1999. Yet Godzillas son never grew up. Thats another plot hole

reply

I presume it's a different son in 1999, and that the first one either grew up or died. Or daughter, since all parthenogenic births result in female offspring. Did you know that there seem to be some all-female species of lizard?

reply

There is an all female species of lizard? That sounds like a plot hole in biology to me

reply

I said "seem to be" because yes, its apparently known that there are lizards that can reproduce parthenogenically instead of sexually, and there are several species of lizard that are thought to be all female. I added the qualifiers because its not like someone had gone out and checked the sex of every single lactera lizard in the Caucusus, or the whitptails in Arizona.

I'd post a link, but im on my phone. Google is your friend for now.

reply

I'm one of those people that actually knows more than google

reply

Betcha Google knows more about lizard reproduction than you do!

reply

But I know more about plot holes

reply

We're both correct.

reply

Yea but I am able to declare that an all female lizard species is a plot hole in biology so I win

reply

I thought I'd seen everything on the internet, now I have a Parthenogenesis Denier!

reply

But its still a plot hole in biology

reply

There are no plot holes in biology. There are only humans who can't accept the biology.

reply

Godzilla is a male which is why I pointed out the plot hole of him having a son.

reply

There were two... One is now a pile of bones in Tokyo Bay, the other wanders through this next series of films. We have no idea how long the egg sat there buried, waiting to hatch. I suspect the assumption has always been that the first Godzilla laid it.

reply

I don't really think they thought about this at all when they made these films.

reply

You may be right. Every Godzilla film after the first is just a whole 'nother universe really. I mean, Angillas was a hasty attempt to cash in, and they had to have a new Godzilla appear but as for which Godzilla laid an egg... I doubt they cared.

reply

Of course they didn't care. The guy who directed the original Godzilla film quit right afterwards, and started making automobiles

reply

Ha, what? That's not remotely true, he went on to direct like a dozen more Godzilla movies.

reply

Didn't he start the automobile company called Honda?

reply

Um, no.

reply

Um, yes. Ever hear of the Honda cars?

reply

No?

reply

How can you have never heard of Honda cars?

reply

Hyundai you mean?

reply

Hyundai is South Korean. Honda is Japanese

reply

So you did mean Hyundai?

reply

No, I meant Honda. Honda and Godzilla are both Japanese

reply

Oh. Which monster was Korean then?

reply

I don't know of any Korean monster besides the Kim family. The monsters in this film are all Japanese

reply

Oh. Okay. Thanks.

reply

Honda cars and Honda the film production company are two different things. It's like saying Jim Smith Cars and Joe Smith plastics are the same company when they're two different entities completely. Ishiro Honda is the film producer and owner of the Toho Film Company.

Ishiro Honda: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishir%c5%8d_Honda

Honda Automobiles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda

Honda was founded by Soichiro Honda: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soichiro_Honda

The internet is your friend ya know.

reply

Thank you. I just assumed after Ishiro Honda made Godzilla, he started making cars. Honda is a very odd last name so I figured he was the founder of Honda automobiles

reply

No, you would be mistaken. He never made cars. And the company Ishiro Honda founded was Toho.
