Really beautiful ending

Ever since I was a kid, I have always though that the ending of the film is just breathtakingly beautiful.... Little Minya and Godzilla huddled together in the snow... Its such a moment! What is it with giant monsters/giant robots and snow? Its a cinematic match made in heaven. Certainly, this is far from being the best Godzilla, but oh does that scene make it worth it. Anyone else out there moved to tears the way I was by all this?

I saw this when I was in the first grade and that ending made me cry for the first time watching a movie. Loved it and it's truly an underrated gem.

I thought this too, and to what the other two posters wrote on here, I also cried during it. I saw it in the late 1970s as a child, when I saw alot of Godzilla movies, and was a big fan of them. But I often cried during them when I didn't think Godzilla would survive, the only time I've ever cried watching movies or TV shows. That did stop in the 1980s after I became a teenager, though I continued to watch and like them, and I remember watching this one that night on TV. I then taped it off TNT one day in 1991 and watched it some after that, and it made my 100 favorite movies of all time list. The relationship between Godzilla and his offspring, earlier in the movie and during this ending scene, was engrossing, but so was the subplot of the scientists on the island, and the threat posed by the two monsters (giant spider and mantis), until Godzilla and Son defeat them.

I found the ending to be very sweet and touching. The scenes between Minya and Godzilla are the definite funny and moving highlights of the picture.

I write bios, therefore I am.

Yep......I hold up my hands in admission to - the final scene between Godzilla and son as they huddle together in hibernation always brings a tear to my eye.
A truly beautiful moment.

Mmmmmmm.......what blood type are you?

I think it's most the Ending piece by Masaru Sato that does it. I don't think even Akira Ifukube could have done it better.

Agreed. This whole movie was touching in so many ways.

OZ is the best show ever... EVER!

It's one of the best of the kiddie orientated Godzillas, with a truly moving ending.
