Wonderful example of 60's style....

fuzzy headed, liberal, Communist agi-prop. I laughed all the way thru. Chris Guest could not have done better.

I can agree this is communist film, but liberal? Do you know what that word means? It's the thing in the middle of left and right. It's not conservative, nor left-wing.

reply

Liberalism is not really effectively defined by suggesting it's the midpoint between the left and the right. A liberal really is on the left-hand side and typically, pretty far over.

reply

Actually, all of you are wrong.

In the European sense (and this film is Swedish) politically "liberal" would equate to the American idea of "libertarian." Liberal and left-wing parties are usually in political opposition to each other in European countries.

Of course, then there's the broader idea of "classical liberalism" and the American political idea of "liberalism," but those are other stories...

I completely disagree with your assertion this is a "Communist" film.
I agree that it is a political film, definitely of the leftist persuasion. But then, as the man-in-the-street interviews showed, lots of Swedes were/are free of rightwing limited thought.
