Poor man's version of the Frankie + Annette beach films

It even steals the plot of the main male character playing a dual role like Frankie Avalon did in 'Bikini Beach' (1964) where he played Frankie and singer 'Potato Bug'. Every bit in the film was lifted except the fun and the chemistry Frankie & Annette and the rest of the gang had. No problem with Deborah Walley who had already appeared in a F&A film. But Tommy Kirk who co-starred with Annette in past projects, was a washout here. Bland, boring and out of shape for a beach film. He couldn't sing and if I didn't know better I'd think this was his first role! He was a drag!

The only good beach party movies were the Frankie and Annette ones. All others were pale imitations.
