ICH WAR NEUNZEHN is an outstanding picture, there is very little political bias given that is an East German production and fits comfortably alongside other (perhaps also products of regime) movies, such as

THE BIG LIFT
GERMANY YEAR ZERO
THE VICTORS

and more recent retrospectives, such as

EUROPA EUROPA
JOY DIVISION
THE GOOD GERMAN

I agree. This is a small masterpiece and must be one of the least known great war films. And for all of its tension, it's a somewhat tender film.

So you feel that this totally white washed film (4 millions rapes in Poland & Germany) ... present by the USSR and GDR in 1968 ... has little political bias??? Interesting???
