Saw the film as a boy, in the cinema. Then I caught the middle to end at a friends house, on Netflix. For the life of me, I couldn't remember or figure out why Dooley appeared as solid green...or the other fella as pink.

It meant he died, they were each colour-coded by the battle in which they died. Originally the black and white footage of each battle was tinted the same colour, but by mistake this was removed.
