Why the fictional names for some of the characters?
Given that the script writer obviously did some real research before writing this why were several of the supporting characters have been given ficticious names?
Just a guess, but I think that there were (are) probably descendants of those characters still around and there may have been liability issues. The events retold in the movie are far from settled history, if there is such a thing, and some of the scenes (Sheriff Bryan being called a liar by Justice Wells) may have landed the producers in court.
