I have searched and searched for what this hotel looked like and none in New Orleans look like this. I think this was filmed at a lot in Hollywood. It has that look on the street in front of the hotel.

I do know that some was filmed in the streets of New Orleans. The cafe scene was shot in Pat O'Brien's which looks the same today except that area is the courtyard bar, where McDermot is waiting.

if i were to take a wild guess, i'd say they filmed some hotel scenes at the Hotel Monteleone....one of New Orleans landmark hotels, The Monteleone first opened in 1886

That's not the Montleone lobby.

Location filming
Two notable shots are actually filmed in New Orleans: the opening shot of the New Orleans International Airport main terminal building; and an open air shot of Peter McDermott and Jeanne at a French Quarter restaurant, Pat O'Briens. However, the other shots are obviously filmed on Warner's back lot, most especially the outside scene between the Duchess and House Detective Dupere (Richard Conte).

True, I read somewhere that the Hotel was a studio invention...and a rather good one at that!

The interior sets were very studio-ish and fake-looking. Did you notice how many of the interiors were split-level with little fake-looking staircases?

JAMAL-NAZREDDIN: now that you mention it! Yes! :) Thank you! I guess I was just fantasizing when I watched the movie. :) haha

Reportedly they spent $325,000 (a lot of money in 1966) constructing the hotel set at Warner Bros.

The "Hotel St. Gregory" was based on The Roosevelt New Orleans, which at the time the novel was written was in the process of being sold by its elderly owner Seymour Weiss (who started his career managing the hotel's barber shop) to the owners of the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.
