the cop was driving a car, so why was he wearing a crash helmet? I about busted a gut whatching this campy flick

California Highway Patrol officers were required to wear helmets in the car at the time... ridiculous, but true!

Yes, that was bizarre but true, I remember as a kid seeing them wear helmets, really ridiculous. Whose idea was that? Of course gas station attendents used to wear WHITE uniforms and caps! Even more stupid considering they checked oil...

I look at the cop as the CHP's version of Joe Friday, with his lectures and all that. I also loved Daley - he looked like he led a cool life.

I had recorded this and wasn't sure I saw what I knew I saw...lol. Yep, he got out of the car wearing a helmet. Had to rewind to make sure I was seeing straight. Glad someone provided the explanation about cops having to wear helmets. I never knew that.

Gas station attendants also would wash the INSIDE of your windshield. I saw this in a Burt Lancaster flick.
