Great Film!

Watched this mainly due to the fact that it was a criterion release. I loved it. Great use of amatuer actors. Forman has a great knack for the humor of 'real people', which he also shows in Loves of a Blonde. I've been recommending this film to all my friends.

The regionalism of the actors is really a strong point here. Everything they do is very interesting to watch, and their faces seem wise and compelling. Good example of how Milos' movies movie very nicely, very fluid with well composed shots.

The Fireman's Ball could easily be re-made today with little to re-write because it's a combination of timeless slapstick and black comedy. The communist political satire was an added bonus of the time, but could be substituted for something more contemporary.

Every face is like a map to be read. Wonderful
