Grimes didn’t need to take the stage coach

The sheriff was in on the robbery plan. They clearly knew about the Indian agent’s money before the trip started. Grimes could’ve done the whole robbery in town with he and the sheriff splitting the money. There was absolutely no need to take the three day stage coach ride

If the robbery took place in town, there would have been more witnesses.

It's odd that Russell was on the stage. Considering his apathy toward other people and his "outdoor skills", why didn't he travel alone?

You make an equally good point to my original. Especially when half the movie is Russell leading the group on foot through the terrain
