Scooby-Doo

I've only seen one person on here mention in passing that this reminded them of Scooby-Doo. Ferlin Husky as Fred, Joi Lansing as Daphne, that other annoying guy (whose name happens to be JEEPERS in this), is Shaggy. Ferlin Husky calls him Jeeps, but ironic that the Daphne-like character constantly says his name; Jeepers. At one point, Jeepers jumps into Ferlin Husky's arms. Often, something creepy happens unnoticed by Fred and Daphne, and only Shaggy sees it (since there's no Scooby). And of course, criminals posing as ghosts.

Scooby-Doo was made two years later, which begs the question if the idea was taken from this. Does anyone know of any other similar movies to this that came earlier which could serve as inspiration for Scooby-Doo?
