Hello. The DVD packaging does not list all the songs, but I understand that "Flash, Bang, Wallop" is in this film. Can somebody please confirm? Also, is "Flash, Bang, Wallop" the same song that has, "take a picture, take a photograph" or something close to that (the lyrics are so fast!) in it? The amazon.com sound bite from the music CD didn't quite give me enough to go on before I purchase the DVD. If you could provide a complete list of DVD songs, that would be swell. Thank you!
It's one of my favorite musicals, so I'm with you. When I was a kid, I played the soundtrack ad infinitum, driving my brother and parents crazy. But I've always wondered what they were singing at certain parts.
The "Flash, Bang, Wallup" lyrics in question are: "What a picture, what a photograph". If you have the DVD (and obviously you do), turn on your captions during that song and confirm what I just wrote.
Here's your list, in the order they appear in the movie (And performed by): 1) All In The Cause of Economy (Tommy Steele, Grover Dale and apprentices) 2) Half a Sixpence (Tommy Steele & Julia Foster) 3) Money To Burn (Tommy Steele, Cyril Richard, and chorus) 4) I Don't Believe A Word Of It/I'm Not Talking to You (Tommy Steele, Julia Foster, apprentices and girls) 5) A Proper Gentleman (Chorus) 6) She's Too Far Above Me (Tommy Steele) 7) If The Rain's Gotta Fall (Tommy Steele, children, and chorus) 8) The Race Is On (Tommy Steele and chorus) 9) Flash, Bang, Wallup (Tommy Steele, Julia Foster, and chorus) 10) I Know What I Am (Julia Foster) 11) This Is My World (Tommy Steele and chorus) 12) Half a Sixpence-Reprise (Tommy Steele, Julia Foster, and chorus) 13) Flash, Bang, Wallup--End Credits (Chorus)
Although Julia Foster appears to sing her songs in the film, her vocal double is Marti Webb, who played her character on the London Stage (and appeared on the Longon Cast Album)
Hope this helps! If you're a big Tommy Steele fan (and I've always been), he is also in Walt Disney's "The Happiest Millionaire", and "Finian's Rainbow," a Warner Brothers Seven Arts release
