I remember...

... a friend of mine was having a Bar Mitzvah party in 1968, and they were going to run "A Guide For The Married Man" as entertainment. (This was long before VCRs and DVDs, when renting a projector and a movie was a *BIG* deal.)

Some of the parents objected, because the content was "inappropriate" for a group of 13 year old boys.

So instead they ran the film "Wait Until Dark". Somehow, none of the parents objected to a film about a blind woman being terrorized by criminals in her own home as being "inappropriate" for 13 year old boys.

[Le Sigh] I'm afraid I still don't understand that!

I dont understand it either.

But from my observations, it seems in the USA we are overly sensitive to topics and entertainment concerning sex, but have no problems or restrictions with purveying violence oriented content.

While in most of Europe it is the exact opposite. No problems at all with sexual themed content (I'm talking nudity or light themed content,,,not porno), but they restrict content with violence.

reply

Neither film is appropriate for 13 year old kids, especially in '68, but I love both flicks.
