What is your favorite Hepburn movie ever?

I have to go with The Philadelphia Story. Kate Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart, enough said.

seriously tough question ^^

from her earlier films I love "Holiday" and "The Philadelphia Story"
from the 60s I think her performances in "Long Day's Journey Into Night" and "The Lion In Winter" are superb. I'd be happy to give all those films *****/***** probably 9.5 to 9.9 out of 10.

I love that movie (or any other of KH's). Long Day's Journey Into Night is my absolute favourite, though. Absolutely spellbinding.

"WHAT are their names?" "Adam and Amanda Bonn... ohhhhh."

reply

Little Women.

Narrowing it down to one is hard...I can narrow it down to two...ADAM'S RIB and THE PHILADELPHIA STORY.

Getting into a matter of personal taste here (obviously), but ....

For me, Desk Set does not belong on this list. Nothing wrong with Hepburn's performance in it (or Tracy's for that matter). It just never struck me as being nearly as good of an overall movie as the others.

Desk set! Here kate matches wit with Spence. The playfull sparing is awesome. Kate delivered some of her best zingers in this one. Her interaction with Joan Blondell is also wonderful.

I must admit, the scene with the 'brain' is a bit over the top, but watch how calm she is as she responds to the president of the company. She is making referances to the fact that everybody has been fired, but the bigwigs, including Sumner don't get it. As for the super stuffy, ultra business minded 'Miss Warner,' she completely falls apart, burtst into tears, and she is the, only, one who has a job. She is totally unprofessional, has completely taken over the department, and has the nerve to tell the other girls what to do.

By now we all know Richard and Bunny are in love, and will marry.

For my money, this is the best Tracy/Hepburn movie.
