Tracy and Hepburn: Oscars

Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn were both magnificent in this film and Kate richly deserved the Oscar for her brilliant performance, and Tracy not Steiger should have won the Oscar for his monumental performance.

I agree that they were both great, but I am not sure about Tracy deserving the Oscar over Rod Steiger. Tracy won twice, whereas Steiger's lone win was that same year (for "In the Heat of the Night"). Steiger was never nominated again, so that was actually his last shot at an Oscar.

Both of them had done better films, including most of the other films they made together.

I like Tracy both in general and in this, but I feel Steiger deserved it.
