Anyone Agree?

I don't think this very good movie is anything like the 1955 Diabolique, as one commentor states.
Does anyone agree with me?
I was lucky enough to buy the video when it was released because it is hard to get hold of.
DVD? hopefully.

Yep I agree with you, I think the only similarity is that Simone Signoret played in both. I saw GAMES on TV when I was a kid and the electric went off and we never got to see how it ended so I went and got a copy through an auction, I agree it is hard to come by. Do not think it has ever been released onto DVD yet. It hard to locate on the net or even to just look it up in an auction.

The story really isn't much like Diabolique at all.

Yes it is, almost a rip-off of “Diabolique”. The evil husband in cahoots with Simone Signoret uses a fake corpse to drive his rich but trusting wife mad so that he can gain her property.

In the French film the unhappy heroine dies of fright and the private investigator discovers the plot. In the American film the unhappy heroine may get off with a manslaughter charge but Simone Signoret gets away with the money. Personally, I think the French one stronger because it is set in a working school. Games of the idle rich in Manhattan are inherently less interesting.

There's no resemblance at all, except in mood.
