First ten minutes of the movie like a horror movie

Okay, maybe I exaggerate but like other posters, the first ten minutes of FIRST TO FIGHT was riveting.

I say, '...like a horror movie' because the director was a genius in using darkness, shadow, and judicious use of little light here and there. The attacking Japanese are depicted as dark, shadowy figures charging out of the darkness like a horde of fast-running zombies from "28 Days Later". Their faces are never clearly shown. In fact, if you look very closely it's possible many of the Japanese soldiers are in fact, Caucasian stuntmen. Some of of the attacking 'Japanese' soldiers look far too tall and buff muscular to be the thin, wiry, short men the WWII Japanese were known to be.

I agree but stagey. The middle part of the movie was so slow that I almost baled out. The last part of the movie was excellent. Gene Hackman was great and his presence salvaged the film.
